I'm not sure it's possible to ever do as badly as I did in an Oscar pool. This was the first time I've ever participated in such a thing, and I have to thank Catherine for giving me the opportunity to embarrass myself so spectacularly. Out of 27 total categories, a got a whopping 3 correct. That's an 11% success rate. I think I had only one correct pick through the first 23 or so awards, when I went on an amazing hot streak and racked up two big points for Best Original Screenplay (Juno) and Best Actor (Daniel Day Lewis). My only other winner was for Costume Design (Elizabeth: The Golden Age). I guess it's a good thing I wasn't able to find any sportsbooks here in Vegas that were taking Oscar bets, because if I did then I probably would have lost even more money. And no, that's not a joke, I actually did look at a couple places to see if they had Oscar lines posted, but no, I didn't actually make specific trips to casinos just for that purpose. I am not that sick.By the way, congratulations to Catherine, the pool organizer, for getting 12 right and walking away with $60 in cash. Recount!
